If they lie loud and long enogh they can. Evan Thomas of Newsweek has already told tens of millions of people on the Imus Show that the levees broke on Mon.

Some levees did break on Monday but the break that matter, that doomed things, was on Tuesday--so Thomas is telling a pernicious half-truth--the most dangerous kind of lie.

even more telling are the phone calls she reported having with various officials and repeatedly telling people both she & Nagin had everything under control. Clearly Bush made a mistake BY BELIEVING THEM or just has too much class than to have gone before the country then and said "THESE IDIOTS WON'T PROTECT THEIR POEPLE AND WON'T LET US DO ANYTHING FOR AT LEAST 24 MORE HOURS"

But Nagin had harsh words for his state's leaders, telling CNN: "What the state was doing, I don't frigging know. But I tell you, I am pissed. It wasn't adequate."
The New Orleans Democrat said he urged Bush to meet privately with Louisiana Gov. Kathleen Blanco during the visit. The meeting took place aboard Air Force One, he said.

After reviewing the crisis with Gov. Blanco, Bush summoned Nagin for a private chat - where, according to Nagin, Bush explained: "Mr. Mayor, I offered two options to the governor. I said . . . I was ready to move today. The governor said she needed 24 hours to make a decision."

Reacting to the governor's footdragging, Nagin lamented: "It would have been great if we could have left Air Force One, walked outside, and told the world that we had this all worked out."

"It didn't happen, and more people died."

Notice most of the people bashing Bush don't even live in Louisiana, I think when pressed, most Louisianans will have a pretty solid idea of where the blame really lies.

This info is getting out. The libs I work with were very subdued today. Last week they were gloating over the Bush-bashing in the press. (None of them said a word about the victims the day after the storm - they whined about gas prices and what investments would get hit!)

The ineptness of the Mayor and the Gov are undeniable. They left a trail of interviews and documents that contradicts their current complaints. The libs saw the pics of the unused school buses in NOLA. They're learning about the geography and history of NOLA regarding floods and hurricanes. Even they are embarrassed by the female politicians' hissy fits.

And the generosity of folks in Texas and other states puts the lie to the race-baiters' claims.

So it's much better today than it was last week!

BLANCO: Well, I've been in touch with the president. He's called often before the storm and after the storm. Unfortunatly, since I had one thumb up my ass and was trying to figure out how to twidle single handedly with the other, I therefore had no free had available to take the call.

We've got a pretty conservative bunch at work, but those that tilt to the darkside were very quiet today as well.
Those that don't generally pay too much attention are now commenting on what's been said here for the last week...shows me that some of it is hitting the MSM channels finally.
