To feel the MAJOR betrayal of a REPUBLICAN Governor and MAYOR, is the kiss of death, AND to hear President Bush today, with an attitude about his "these are Americans, and adopt a family program" makes me want to throw up. I wonder if he'll ever realize what he has done to "Bush Country?"

I understand what you're getting at but life isn't like a Star Trek episode where 200,000 people could magically be transported into another dimension. These survivors had to go somewhere and fast. Life goes on with bumps and lumps.

We have to put over a million people somewhere. I don't know where you live, but I've noticed the northeastern states have taken relatively few evacuees.
I'm proud that our state has opened our arms (South Carolina) and although I know a lot of those people have problems that are alarming, being out of the inner city environment will be good for their kids and give them a chance.
In all honesty, though, having said that, if this was happening in large numbers in my town, I'd be concerned. I'm a NIMBY, I guess.
Can you please tell me what you are referring to in your post about the President saying he want to help and adopt a family....and that it makes you want to throw up.
