Oh, good. We're in a small town and have 50 people coming here; I know they'll be made to feel welcome in our town.
Which reminds me of Barbara Bush's comments yesterday. Although perhaps a poor choice of words that people will be better off, a lot of them will be better of. Those that didn't lose family members, that is.
They will be away from the rampant drugs, gangs, prostitution and violence that was prevalent in their inner city neighborhoods. And from my neighbors who lived in NO most of their adult lives, it sounded rather like a hard place. People in the south are kind and sweet outside the cities and that will be a welcome relief and we've already heard from many evacuees they have no intention of going back.
