Blanco says Army brought attitude, not resources

Governor Blanco, the jig is up. Mayor Nagin ratted you out.

After you cried for federal help to the media on the TV, President Bush came down to consult with you on Wednesday and told you he was ready to roll immediately. You told him you needed 24 hours to think it over (talk to your lawyer). While citizens were dying in the sun and at night without water on roof tops and in shelters and on highways. Mayor Nagin ratted you out!

Then next day (Thursday) because of your lawyer (always a liberal's top source of advice on security matters), you refused to allow a single federalized command and control operation for direct hurricane relief...because "a Governor has to be in charge".

So overnight Thursday the Bush team ...unwilling to turn over the Coast Guard and 82d airborne to a weak inept partisan Governor - had to do some re-planning around your obstructionism and on Friday, that "attitude" rolled in with an 8 mile long convoy carrying food, water, medical assistance and security forces to protect 25,000 stranded New Orleans citizens at two LOCAL disaster shelters (SuperDome and Convention Center)....

Then that "attitude" - in a SINGLE DAY SATURDAY - set about restoring order to YOUR city so that an air bridge and shuttle system could evacuate 20,000 people from the SuperDome, 5,000 people from the Convention Center, hundreds of people from mob-besieged hospitals, and several thousand people from roof tops and highway overpasses.

"Attitude"!!!???? Governor Blanco, have you ever even shook the hand of the Louisianan, General Honore, who organized and commanded the greatest American civilian rescue evacuation ever undertaken in 24 hour period?

Perhaps the Governor is from a part of LA that doesn't care too much for the General's heritage.
