Meet John Mike… son of good friend John Stephen.

John Mike just graduated from high school in June & hopes to be a band director eventually. He is a trombone player & did the whole ball of wax in high school.. Marching band, concert band, jazz groups etc.

He decided to join the local Army National Guard unit & completed basic training at Ft. Jackson last month. He was in specialty school in Texas but was deployed to the Gulf region to help with Katrina clean – up, relief etc. John is a Christian and could use our prayers (as can all there) as they deal with untold tragedies, horrors and difficult work.

John is like many of the other young people there from whom taking out the garbage at home now is looking pretty good in comparison to the nightmare in the south! .

John is my adventure team partner on jaunts on the river, various lakes, & thru the woods. I have known him since he was 4.

Dear Lord,

We present to you John Mike, asking for protection for him from all possible harm in connection with his assignment to help the unfortunate victims of Hurricane Katrina.

Equip him to deal with the realities of a kind of life hitherto unknown. Give him courage and strength, and fill him with the certainty YOU ARE ALWAYS THERE with him.

He no doubt already knows You and trusts you, and is stepping out on his own, away from high school and family and the familiar; his first strides into his manhood.

We all are Your Children, in need of grace and guidance and wisdom,
but we ask special watchfulness for our fledglings.

We praise and thank You for the Gift of Your own Son. Amen.
