We shall have to wait and see. But what are all those folks in Jefferson County going to do for work? Slidell was wiped out (St Tammany parish I think, a Pubbie stronghold). What did they do for work? They commuted to those towers in NO, many of them. White blue collar St Bernard was totally wiped out, but many them will be back someplace, because they worked in the oil industry, and at the port, and they will be back, those that are still alive.

Metro areas are a living organism, with dependent parts. When some parts fail, others do as well, or the reverse. That is why I look at political trends on a metro basis. It is the only basis with any meaning.

Bringing back businesss and the jobs will be the first priority and makes the most sense just to bring in revenues for the city. I doubt anyone is going to want to use federal money for housing until the levee problem is solved.
