I think you are really on the money with that statement. I only hope we all learn something from this so that when a real disaster hits us again, maybe we all will be a little more prepared. I'm getting my wife and myself armed to the teeth, and preparing "grab & go" bags of clothes, money, and food/water for 10 days. I hope that after 10 days my Governor will have sense enough to send someone to look for us. Thank God I don't live in Louisiana, 'cause then I'd have to pack for a freakin' year or two!!!

In contingency planning for the hurricanes around here, we've assembled a duffle bag for each family member with a check-list of items for survival and sustenance for 7 days. It's light weight enough for a slightly built woman to carry. Separately,there's a web belt with a .45cal holster. A seat-pack survival .22cal rifle that should be familiar to former flight crew members is ready to assemble and, for ease of carrying, fit with a jerry-rigged sling and ammo clip pockets.
