You made a choice to live in a hurricane zone, and it's YOUR responsibility to ensure safety of family members, not mine - and CERTAINLY not the government! I made a choice to live in a tornado zone, so it's up to me to heed early warnings of severe weather.
Don't act like a child and play the blame game. Any blame would rest solely on state and local government, but ultimately it's you. It's called RESPONSIBILITY!
Once again you don't have any idea of what you are talking about. If you want to understand what happens after a hurricane why don't go down to New Orleans and learn from the experience. Then you will have some knowledge of the subject and your comments will be meaningful.
I never said that FEMA was responsible for evacuation. They do not have any responsibility or capability in that area. During the last year the Gulf Coast state and local governments have been revising their disaster planning to something called "Evacuate In Place". That means getting people who live in flood prone areas and mobile homes into shelters and advising everyone else to board up their windows while seeking interior rooms of their homes. That is all the responsibility of the local government. But after the disaster hits the local governments are crippled. No communications, supplies destroyed, etc.
That is why FEMA must respond within 24 hours after the disaster strikes or lives will be lost.
WE MUST HAVE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY AND FEMA MANAGEMENT WHO ARE COMPETENT TO DO THE JOB. WHEN ARE CHERTOFF AND BROWN GOING TO BE FIRED?
I'd say FEMA disagrees with your assesment of their responsibilities during a disaster to the tune of about a hundred percent...
FEMA coordinates the work of federal, state, and local agencies in responding to floods, hurricanes, earthquakes, and other natural disasters.
