Kukuyama's theory has the singular honor of being a thesis that was proven wrong by events even before the ink was dry. "End of history" my Aunt Fanny.
Huntington, however, was simply calling attention to facts so obvious anyone can see it if they take their blinders off. Unfortunately blinders seem to be mandatory these days; we puff our chests and rah-rah and point fingers at those backward foreigners, while we ignore the erosion of the foundations of our own civilization. We need to set our own house in order, yet we have this crazed idea that we have to spread our own cultural diseases to others, at gunpoint and at enormous cost in our own blood and gold.
