I don't buy that. Norwegians, who live in a welfare state of the first order, if they found themselves in similar conditions, would not have behaved the way the folks in the dome behaved.

While I agree that a Superdome full of Norwegians would be better behaved (albeit a bit grumpy without their ale and lutefisk), you should be aware than Norway has an astonishingly high illegitimacy rate.

As a matter of fact, I am aware the Norway and Sweden as well have high illegitimacy rates and while I do not condone such behavior, it does not seem to lead to the same sort of anti-social behavior in the Scandinavian countries as it does in our country, probably because, although the mother and father never do bother to get married, they usually do live together, so the father is a presence in his children's lives.

A superbowl full of Koreans or Japanese, under the same conditions, would have organized itself into platoons, companies and battalions, with elected leaders.

There would have been child care centers, security teams, and foraging teams.

In fact, I did hear of Vietnamese areas in NO turning down help, because they had their areas under control, were prepared, and said others needed emergency help more than they did.

You can't ignore the cultural factors in a crisis like this.
