He's a moron. At least with a hurricane you have a chance to evacuate with your family. I was in Bellevue, (then) husband was downtown Seattle, and my kids were South of Tacoma, much closer to the epicenter (although it didn't matter with the depth.) All the cell phone lines were jammed and the phone lines were iffy, too. It was hours before I knew my children were safe. (Was I ever a blubbering mess!)
I know what you mean. Our last day in California was the Northridge quake... we had everything but last minute items already moved to AZ ... woke up and said; get dressed, we're outa here.
