Jesse Jackson: "There is a surplus of water and diapers, what we need are mobile homes."

A shortage of trailers in the South? Surely not!

Maybe he's planning on starting a new city of his own out of these mobile homes. I'm not too sure that all the potential residents would be considering them "temporary shelter". If Mayor Nagin has to threaten to cut off free water in order to get people sleeping on soggy mattresses on their porches to leave, what would it take to get them out of trailers with all utilities paid?

Wasn't one of the problems they had in Florida last year during their hurricanes was that there were so many people living in mobile homes??

Just like in tornado alley, where I live, a mobile home is the WORST thing to live in.

Oh, they'll never leave.

We have no idea where our city fathers plan to stuff 10,000 MORE refugees. Should be an interesting few days. We've all been speculating about where the trailers would be placed.

Of course, it'd be nice if they could move some of these people from the temporary shelters FIRST before moving more in. Not so. We've been told there is no place for them to go. Hold what you've got and expect more. Very nice situation to find oneself in. :(

Our National Guard Armory is being converted to a sick bay for people. Row upon row of cots, medical supplies etc., being set up. Gives some of us a very uneasy feeling. At least that area IS fenced off.

The Naval Air Station is serving as a staging area for relief. We've been told to expect THOUSANDS of FEMA workers to take care of things. Very comforting, NOT.
