Deep down the majority of Americans think that most of the blame belong to the residents of New Orleans who stupidly stayed despite all the warnings to have mandatory evacuation. What strenghten this belief are the looting, and crimes that occurred in the aftermath of the hurricane. Of course the majority of American will not say this publicly but this is what they believe. Liberals and their defeated media can go and blame the President all what they want and they can create all the bogus polls they want to show that the majority of Americans blame the President for what happened but this will not change the fact that majority of people do not believe this but rather they are blaming the New Orleans resident who decided to stay and not leave.

Great post. I think you are exactly right.

Actually, I've said it bluntly to peoples faces that the people that stayed behind have some blame in this. You're right no one is really saying it, but when I do not a one of them disagrees or has called me heartless so I would have to say you are correct. This is the elephant everyone in the room they won't admit to but the public is thinking it.

Not only that but people are tired of race baiting, so that isn't going over well.

Nor is a Governor crying, a Mayor cursing and an other Senator thretaning violence to the President. Perhaps if the Dems were not behaving so irrationally and didn't have a record of using any opportunty, however low, to slam this administration it would have effect. They screwed themselves politically from being able to use this due to their behavior the last five years.

Then folks note 9-11, they note MISS, Alabama and Texas, and they make the connection something isn't right in LA and from there connect the Gov and local officials.

That is a rather cruel sentiment vis a vis those who were unable to leave, or chose not to leave to attend to their loved ones who could not leave.

I just heard from amom. She has been assigned to a small shelter outside BRLA, about 400 misplaced folks. All are helping with food cooking, serving, unloading of trucks, sorting goods received, cleaning etc.

I was able to tell her the 17th street levy has been fixed and the city is slowly being drained. I conveyed the information given at the police press conference to her to share with others. The main statement was NO is destroyed and for all to spread across America, but there will be a time to rebuild.

amom did not get to see President Bush, but all are aware that he and Mrs. Bush were there. amom is letting all know who is at fault for this, NO local officials.

The shelter she is at is a Red Cross Shelter, however, NO has still not set up any locally, and some are without food or water in surrounding Parrish's.

Yesterday, amom relayed information I sadly neglected to pass on. Many military convoys passed them on the way to BRLA. amom and crew would give a thumbs up and the soldiers would smile and wave, honk horns etc. Many. many rented trucks and trailers full of supplies passed them too.

amom said most folks are very hopeful and things are going good. Most local families are housing 2 or more families in their homes, many of which sustained wind damage from Katrina. BRLA is still cleaning up themselves, but are caring for double their population at the moment.

I will call her back later to let her know that over 40 countries have sent pumps to help deflood NO.

Ping me for any questions or offers you might have.

Howlin, could you make a ping list please! It has been years since I have done this, and ping list are new to me.
