The difference is that in your situation, the engine was running and took in water, damaging the engine components.
Betsy wasn't as extensive obviously. But I moved to New Orleans in summer, 1968 and my first high school was selling magazines door-to-door throughout New Orleans. I went all over that town, through the projects, etc This was 3 years after Betsy and I saw no residual evidence of hurricane damage that I noticed. Not sure how much time I spent in the 9th ward however, which is where the worst of it was.
I think the rebuilding will happen much faster than the talking heads are saying at least for some areas. The West Jefferson / Harahan area expects to have power in 2 weeks according to my brother.
See 2350 and tell me your thoughts.
Political hack running, spinning and showing what a LOSER he is as a potential leader. I am damn glad we found this out about him NOW.
I agree - I didn't see it as a Bush bashing. He began by talking about the incompetance of the NO officials. Then said Bush was loyal to a fault and needed to fire some people. (Ok, it was not cool when he said Bush needed to learn the 2 words in English language 'You're Fired.')
But this this is why he is saying Brown should be fired :

State and local officials did not inform top federal officials early on of the deaths and lack of food among hurricane victims in the Superdome or convention center, Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said yesterday.
Mr. Chertoff said neither he nor Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Michael Brown was told of the deteriorating situation in New Orleans until Thursday night.
Why did Mississippi and Alabama handle this so differently than Louisiana, Jindal.
This guy needs to be impeached.
New York City police officers leave police headquarters in New York bound for Louisiana and Hurricane Katrina relief efforts Monday, Sept. 5, 2005. The 150 police officers and support vehicles will join 172 officers already sent Saturday. Some officers will be federalized, which gives them the same powers as local authorities 'to provide much needed law enforcement to keep people safe in and around New Orleans,' Mayor Michael Bloomberg said.
the busses wil be needed for the bodies
Understood, I don't think the canals are very deep.
On a related note, how to you clean a water supply system that has been compromised as New Orleans' has?
That is way beyond my pay grade. But I will say that mother earth has been a self-cleaning organism for millions of years - according to the Darwinists. LOL!
It seems that the sobsisters with microphones have moved on to threats of contamination, since other threats are more under control.
Actually, he'd parked it and shut it off on a short bluff overlooking the river. Bluff collapsed, truck goes into the river.
Wonderful to hear that about brian too! I like them both, really don't want them on the hack list. I've been angry sometimes at them not being up to speed but to give in to the hacks would be incredibly disappointing.
The deployment of buses to assist the needy is part of the evacuation plan. 80 elderly in a nursing died because they had no assistance from the city (buses). Criminal. No excuse. Someone made a decision to save the buses.
I met him when he ran the LA DHH (health & hospitals). He's just another politician.
WOW...impressive stuff. Thanks for posting.
In the meantime- did y'all just hear Brit trying to splain facts of life to Jamal? What a HOOT! Thank GOD Brit's back:)
For some unbiased reports, see the weather channel.
Why hasn't anyone in the MSM asked why the Mayor didn't make certain the Retirement homes were evacuated? I heard that they found one on Saturday with 80 dead people. Obviously the staff took off and left these old people to die. Shouldn't someone be accountable for that -- or are they going to blame THAT on Bush, too.
Gotta go for a while to make dinner, but I'll check back in a bit.
