"I hate newspapermen. They come into camp and pick up their camp rumors and print them as facts. I regard them as spies, which, in truth, they are. If I killed them all there would be news from Hell before breakfast." --- Civil War General William Tecumseh Sherman

I suppose the "botched plan" is that the administration expected the duly elected state officials starting with the governor to follow through with the evacuation plan that had been designed.

You're wholly right.

I read many of the papers online: the NYTimes, Wash Post, Reuters, among others, because I need to have the information contained in their financial pages. I need to understand what investors hear and see. The same goes for the thoroughly inaccurate CNBC broadcasts and The Economist.

But I am by nature a curious person, and so read the news. I live in Massachusetts, and cannot read the Globe.

What gives me a particular thrill is liberals' puzzlement at the success of any more fair, more balanced news media, and of conservative opinion columnists and talk radio hosts.

Many of you probably use Yahoo, Excite, etc. as a home page where you are subjected to Reuters headlines.
A while back a Feeper recommended an internet portal www.myway.com where you can choose from Fox, AP or Reuters for your news, sports, financial headlines and stories.
I've been using myway for a homepage and it works out great.
If you decide to use myway I suggest running Adaware or Spybot after customizing your page. After one run things will be cleaned up and run fine.

The Southern Louisiana Evacuation Plan specifically stated that people without private transportation were to be transported on public buses. Here is the original post of the plan

There were not just "200 buses". There were 200 buses in just one photo and Freepers studying the post-Katrina satellite images have counted over 400 buses altogether at other city parking.

At 70 people per bus that is 28,000 people per round trip that could have been taken out of the storm surge area in the 48 hours prior the Katrina striking.

After the storm hit, what makes you think that buses sent from outside of New Orleans could drive through the flooded mess any better than the 145 New Orleans city buses that were parked 1.2 miles away from the Superdome?

Was Scotty supposed to beam the outside buses to the Superdome and them beam them back out so that they would not have to drive through impassable roads?

The time to evacuate those 200,000 low-income people on public buses OUT OF THE STORM SURGE ZONE was BEFORE the Category 4 storm struck.

That was what the Southern Louisiana Evacuation Plan for New Orleans specifically called for.

The Democrat Governor and the Democrat Mayor did NOTHING to carry out that portion of the plan. They left 200,000 low-income resident abandoned and they now blame the Federal Government for not having Scotty beam down a massive logistics effort after a human disaster of their own making.

I just emailed them a piece of my mind.

It appears the Bush haters are so freaked out by his re-election that they have descended into a world of total delusion.

That article was absolute garbage.
