I don't know but the other helicopter that is there to pick up the pilots was motioning to the tv helicopters to fly away... but they stayed there to film it... It's a possibility.

Don't know about that, but the copter went down in the vacinity of the Danziner bridge. This is the area where the police had the shootout with the thugs.

"The pilot of a civilian helicopter and a passenger participating in the Hurricane Katrina rescue effort escaped serious injury Sunday night after the aircraft crash landed near the Danziger Bridge over the Industrial Canal in the Lower Ninth Ward, state officials said." -- nola.com

"New Orleans Police officers sent up a cheer at one point Sunday at a report that their colleagues had engaged in a shootout with an armed group on the Danziger Bridge in eastern New Orleans, with several of the suspected marauders - but none of the police officers - being hit. Deputy Police Chief W.J. Riley said police shot eight people, killing five or six of them." -- nola.com
