I have always loved my own pets, too. I am not anti-pet or anti-animal.

But when faced with a rescue boat or bus of very limited capacity and humans are suffering around you, one cannot allow our attachments to our pets to supersede our responsibility to be God's light to the world.

This means letting pets go in favor of helping even ungrateful people in such times of need and limited shared resources.

People must come first. Their souls are what most count.

That is also why we can slaughter animals for food.

You let yours go. I won't. It's about that simple.

Give up. Most of these people would toss a baby overboard without regret to save their own animal. They have stated it outright. If another human needed rescue, my pets would have to fend for themselves, as much as I love them.
