I was talking to a person last week that works for the school system last week and mentioned the fact that school buses weren't used to evacuate people and she looked dumbfounded and said, "but who would drive them?' I just walked away.
No, it's a good point. The drivers should have been included in the preparedness plan and should have been told to report to work on Sunday (or Saturday). As it was, they were scattered all over southern LA and who knows where. Yes, ordinary people could drive the buses, especially if they had truck driving experience, but there's no valid reason that needed to be the case.
oh-my-gawd... how pathetic is that? but it's funny that you just walked away... why bother with such mentality...
I saw the young man being interviewed and he was asked if he had ever driven a bus before and he said no. He picked up people along the way and got around 80 to safety. God bless him. A hero for sure.
Typical NEA mental pygmy. We sure have some winners teaching our young people, don't we?. Thank heavens I can afford parochial school for my kids.
