Carnival Cruise Lines announced Saturday that the U.S. government has chartered three luxury cruise liners - Ecstacy, Sensation and Holiday - for the next half year, to provide temporary housing for victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Two of the ships, the Ecstasy and Sensation, have a maximum capacity of 2,606 people each and will be based in Galveston, Texas. The third, the Holiday, has a maximum capacity of 1,800, and will likely be docked in Mobile, Ala.
Carnival Cruise Lines would not reveal how much FEMA was paying to charter the ships. Carnival crews will operate the ships, which will be at the disposal of the U.S. Military Sealift Command.
The company said people who had their cruises on the ships cancelled could receive a full refund or book a trip on another ship.
A Carnival spokesman said the inconvenience to their guests will provide desperately-needed housing for thousands of Hurricane Katrina victims

Forget it. They'll trash the ships and blame it all on someone else...and the MSM will sweep it under the carpet.
Or they'll refuse to leave unless they're provided with similar accomodations and Reverend Al will say it's only what's owed to them for centuries of ill-treatment. Probably, Mugabe will jump in on this one.

Talk about reparations...We are about to see how people will react to the governments providing them with EVERYTHING. Food, housing, money, etc in a luxury style.

I haven't heard Ted Kennedy suggesting that the great state of Massachusetts would offer the ships safe harbor off of Martha's Vineyard.
Guess Teddy, Hillary, Kerry and rest of the Democratic posse are still waiting to see which way the wind is blowing.

No MREs -- but they will complain, no matter what is done for them.

We are going to witness a huge experiment in human nature. Let's imagine instead of a natural disaster this mass outpouring of help from the Fed Gov is reparations that the black community has been screaming about for years. WE are about to see how this mega-generosity is handled by that community.

Well, will they get nightly bunny rabbits? My wife and I were married on the Sensation in the port of New Orleans last December, before we spent a week cruising down to Mexico. We had considered a return trip someday. Don't look like it will happen.

I'm sure that the luxury cruise ships will be reserved for rich white Republicans.
