The city might be closed for a few months, so sales tax revenue will drop; but real estate taxes should rise considerably due to the sudden increase in waterfront property.
I believe "waterfront property" only applies to lots CONNECTED TO the mainland; whereas mostly everything there now (houses) can be considered "islands" (i.e. totally surrounded by water).
They're gonna have to institute a new 'island tax'.
