"The administration had sought control over National Guard units, normally under control of the governor. Louisiana officials rejected the request, noting that such a move would be comparable to a federal declaration of martial law. State authorities suspected a political motive behind the request."

Okay, let me get this straight: earlier tonight, Mayor Nagin said on CNN that he thought the CIA might want to "wipe him out" (or words to that effect, as I understand it). Now, we learn that "state officials" suspected "a political motive" when the feds asked them to agree to give them control over the evacuation.

Is there any government official left in Louisiana who ISN'T a PARANOID NUT CASE?

Stunning.....

Yep, stunning indeed. That mayor's remarks are those of a paranoid dope addict. Maybe he's on crack. We know he's incompetent and arrogant.

Mayor Nagin said the CIA might want to "wipe him out".

So is it reasonable to conclude that his meeting with the President the other day did not go well? :-)
