Couldn't agree more. Just before Katrina made landfall, Shep Smith reported that the eye of the hurricane had moved "slightly east", so NOLA wouldn't have a "direct hit".
He said this matter-of-factly, like Katrina was no big deal anymore. But it was still a Class 5 or 4 hurricane, Shep!!! New Orleans was bound to suffer great damage, whether or not it had a "direct hit".
Sometimes I think one of the primary job requirements for being a report is that you only have two brain cells to rub together.
