I expect Roberts to get a lesser fight because of this. I say this sadly as I think it will come at the expense of Rehnquist's replacement (think gang of 14). I hope that the Pres., and more importantly congress sticks by his/their guns on this. Prays out to The Chiefs family in this their hour of need. His suffering is over.

If nothing else, it pretty much takes away the Dims' ability to use Katrina to delay the Roberts hearings and give their smear merchants more time to dig. A SCOTUS that starts the new session short a Chief Justice and an Associate Justice due to Dim delaying tactics will not sit well with the public.
