Maybe Mississippians should start rioting, raping, looting and killing their fellow citizen. That will garner sympathy from the liberals, attention from the media, and pledges of billions in reconstruction aid from the politicians.
Mississippians will rise from this mess. They will care for each other and anybody else that they can.
Back on Tuesday, before the levee breaches began flooding NO, Mississippi was the major news story on FOX. But when NO started filling with water, everyone started heading in that direction, leaving poor Mississippi and Alabama in the dust (or mud in this case).
They aren't forgotten, just better able to care for themselves.
The military is going in. I forgot which units but it was on the news about an hour ago.
Looks more devastated than anything I've seen in La.
The people and support groups are handling it very well...there.
I don't think that they are forgotten in Wisconsin. We are collecting every useful thing that we can muster and shipping it to Missippi because of Brett Favre and his family.
Mississippians have a long tradition of self-reliance. And despite propaganda to the contrary, the different races get along with each other. Mississippians will band together and come out of this as a great example to the rest of the country.
That said, I also hope that the government doesn't spend all the resources on the mess in Louisiana, some of which can be traced to incompetence at the state and local levels.
I have a friend stationed in Pearl. He is working flightline about 18 out of every 24 hours. He says the planes are constantly going, sending out aid. It's going out as fast as it can.....but it will never be fast enough will it?
Steve Carragan reporting from Pascagoula again....Mississippi, you're not forgotten....you're just not acting like barbarians and hooligans....and your silence is deafening!
Prayers to all in Mississippi...keep the faith...help is coming.
Not forgotten, but not as desperate as a residents that are waist deep in water and must be airlifted out if they are to escape.
I agree with them. It is all NO, all the time. MS gets a mention maybe twice an hour.
No! Mississipians are not forgottee! indeed, I've been worrying continually about a College Friend of Mine, who attended Texas Woman's University, (TWU), Denton, Texas, who was almost like a Mother to me, but deffinitely a Friend.
She live(d) in Ocean Springs, Mississippi, on 6 Evelyn Drive, and it was only tonight, at last, that I unhappily heard, for the first time), that Ocean Springs, MS is nearly gone...Devastated. This likely means that my great Friend from TWU, (Margaret Pearson), is out of contact, for the moment. I just hope she had the chance to Evacuate.
IF anyone, from Ocean Springs, MS knows anything about how to find out where Evacuees from that area are at, I'd appreciate hearing from you.
I tried the Red Cross, Missing Persons, but it is intended strictly for and between Family Members.
Margaret, if you do get this, by a Miracle, I'm now Clarisse L. Motter, I've been worried sick about you, and I live in Pennsylvania. Please, please, contact me.
