Thanks to Katrina, for the next couple of years the immigration issue is going to fall completely off the radar. If the 2006 elections were held today with gasoline over $3/gallon, nobody would give a rat's ass about either immigration or the war in Iraq; that's the good news.
The bad news is that the republicans would get blown out.

Correct, with gas at over $3.00 per gallon, the GOP would lose, which goes to the fact that the electorate is ill informed, and ignorant on why gas prices are so high. Any elementary study of why gas is so high, of course points to the Enviro-nuts, and the Democrats as the culprits.
