Real people are suffering who have lost everything. And do liberals propose solutions to help them? NO! They point fingers. President Bush is doing everything that can humanely be done for the people of New Orleans and the Gulf States. To suggest he could be a miracle worker is preposterous. No amount of money will ever make these people whole. It will help them rebuild their homes and go on with their lives but to suggest material aid can give the survivors what they truly need falls short of recognizing the fact man is not only a material being - his soul needs to be replenished too. And no government can offer solace, comfort, and spiritual reassurance that grief stricken people are looking for. True, we worry about having a roof over our heads and looking out for our loved ones but we are also looking to God to love us and let us know this isn't our fault - that we did nothing to deserve being struck by a hurricane.

If the energy the news media puts into blaming Bush for an Act of God worsened by stupendous incompetence by the New Orleans city authorities and the malevolence of the criminals of the city were directed to helping the morale of the nation, we would all be a lot better off.

This is a point made not often enough. Regarding media, it is not just bias, but misuse of the media's natural manipulative power. It is structurally impossible for mass media reporting to be bloodlessly objective. Therefore the mass media owns some responsibility for the nation's morale. But the bastards don't want you to feel good when that doesn't serve their perceived progressive political ends.

I'm not a veteran poster smoothsailing, but I finally figured out what the wait in the LA governors office and NO mayors office have been waiting on. Just announced on MSNBC that the NAACP, Rev. Jackson, the governorship, et al want a federal compensation for every victim of Katrina similar to the 9/11 compensation. "For the lack of federal response... blah, blah, blah..." I nearly spewed my diet coke everywhere. Was wondering if I follow this up would you kindly post?
