While on active duty at Ft Sill Oklahoma in the early 70's my battalion was given a good bit of riot control training in case we were needed in some US city to control anti war protesters. I assure you that most American solders do not want the order to shoot US citizens. Current Rules of Engagement even forbid shooting looters. HOWEVER, if threatened or fired upon they will kill you on the spot........

HOWEVER, if threatened or fired upon they will kill you on the spot........I agree, and in any hostile area, which New Orleans is at the moment, a soldier patrolling must always be at the ready to respond instantly. Carrying weapons in any other way is not responsible.
