That's because they weren't listening to the people that warned that if the storm was to the east of NO that it could cause catastrophic damage to the levee system and massive flooding. I heard that on Sunday. The hurricane hit on Monday morning. The French quarter was pretty much dry right after the storm. So when did it break? It had to be sometime Monday evening or during the night.

I'm hoping to discover the exact time to make my own evaluation of the disaster relief response. Specifically what was the timeline between the breach and the flooding. Was there even an alternative to evacuation. I am amazed by the sheer number of people who stayed behind!
Does the media bear any responsibility for the people staying as they stated Katrina will not hit New Orleans directly?
