Just giving the reference. It was particularly interesting that Galveston was able to have a plan to use the buses but Mayor Nagin was apparently unable to do so. Hmmmmmm, let's see. People don't have cars. They need to get out of town. The city has perhaps several hundred buses. School is cancelled, so the buses won't be needed by the kids. The buses can perhaps hold 66 people each. Hmmmmmm, what can we do to get poor people out of town?

You mention people not having cars. Then why was there such a traffic jam at the Wal-Mart that was being looted? A lot of people DID have vehicles. They needed them to haul off the loot. That's why many stayed. The fact that some were looting as the storm was still winding down (WDSU video) proves that this was their intention. As one looter stated to a reporter (MSNBC I think)..."Now it's our turn." When asked, "What do you mean" he smiled and was on his way.

Don't forget that Nagin, after evacuating his family on Fri. waited until Sun. to order the evacuation. Could the revenue that the city would make on Sat night have had any impact on this delay? Inquring minds want to know.
