Born Eugene Vincent Craddock on February 11, 1935 in Norfolk, Virginia, Gene Vincent and The Bluecaps pioneered a revolution in American rockabilly music. Gene sang with various country bands in and around Norfolk after leaving the United States Navy with a permanent leg injury. He signed at Capitol Records with his backing band The Blue Caps. Rockabilly is the earliest form of rock and roll as a distinct style of music and Vincent is often credited (at least in my book) as a forefather of Rock'n'Roll.

This song became a huge hit in 1956 and launched the genre that inspired Elvis & The Beatles.
