What is wrong with some of these people? I have a feeling they were animals before all this happened. What's being done to filter out the criminal elements before they ship them up here to Texas?

Nothing. The rapists, thugs and druggies will drop everything and stand in line like innocent choir boys when the busses come. Then they'll be shipped off to wreak mayhem and murder on another city just trying to do the right thing and help the innocent among them. Some thanks that will be. Be afraid. Be very afraid. they won't even touch them when caught looting in broad daylight. You think anything will happen based on heresay of traumatized people? Nope- can't touch them. Just shift them from place to place handing out benefits all along the way.

People, kids even, have been shot stealing chickens in Texas, and not over 5 years ago at that, a little before that a guy shot up the car of some hoods trying to steal the wheels off of his car. In the first case, which was Hispanic on Hispanic, no charges were filed, in the other, which IIRC was black on black, the grand jury "no billed" the man defending his property. (Meaning refused to indict him. It was only taken to the grand jury to help ward off lawsuits from the surviving perps and the families of the dead ones)

They won't find such easy pick'ns in Texas. My son in law, who lives in Austin, but is from NJ, asked me about requirements for having a gun in your home. Other that the federal hoops one must jump through if one buys the gun from a licensed dealer, there are none and the legislature just passed a law essentially allowing unlicensed persons to carry a handgun in their vehicle while traveling (which was the law before), but defining traveling as "going somewhere, while not committing a crime or being a person prohibited from owning a firearm).

I'm going to try to steer him towards a 12 ga shotgun. He's not yet experienced enough to want him handling a handgun or a rifle around MY granddaughter. :) Failing that, I may let him borrow my .30 Carbine, until he can get a pistol caliber carbine, such as a Hi Point; in .40 S&W or 9 mm, or a Ruger police carbine or a used Marlin "Camp Carbine" in 9mm or (preferably) .45 ACP.
