Good job. Could anybody out there please break down the New Orleans population by what kind of beer they drink, what kind of music they listen to (by genre) and whether or not they prefer steak or fish? As well, I'm curious to get a breakdown of what chain restaurant (i.e. Outback, Chilis, Applebees, etc.) is their favorite. Must be a chain restaurant that is nationwide.
I will now end this reply and wait for my answers.
Thank you and good day.

Yes, but still the 10.7% of Masters, Professional and Doctors degrees in New Orleans versus the 8.9% National Average is a surprise to say theleast.
Detroit, e.g., has a 4.2% figure versus 10.7% for New Orleans.

"Because there is a lot of talk about race and "poor" etc., and if you have been listening, a lot of hysteria going on regarding the images. A breakdown of demographics is interesting to look at to help separate fact from fiction."
Your post assumes the demographics of those those left in NO follows a standard normal curve with the population being all of those left in NO. Your post assumes being poor is distributed evenly throughout the race distribution throughout the entire population of the city of NO. I think you should look at your assumptions again.

This is the question that will be asked over and over again in the coming months.
I bet Congress will subpoena TV and radio broadcasts, warnings, etc. We will see finger pointing on a scale never seen before.
As for me, I want to gather more facts beofre commenting on that, but other threads have discussed this.

How about the percentage of drug addicted street people? Now that would be interesting.

"I think Nagin exploded with that outburst becaus he knows he could have done far more to prevent this catastrophe and he shifted into "cover my ass" mode."
I agree. Hence my comment that to have your evac plan be "find a ride with a friend" when almost 15% (75,000 people) use mass transit - isn't much of a plan.

Shep on Fox a little while ago, said the mayor's friends had been protected, perhaps he meant the many armed police in the French Quarter, some with submachine guns. I had to leave for a few minutes so didn't see the rest of the segment. Maybe someone else caught it? The French Quarter came through pretty well, all things considered.

Thanks Congressman.
These are crucial points:
A] New Orleans is a younger than average city--and there are a LOT of school busses.
B] New Orleans has an EXTREMELY HIGH percentage of people that use public transportation and so there are a lot of passenger busses.
C] Tons of school busses + tons of city busses = the ability to evacuate the city if Nagin did not have his head in his butt.
President Bush gave the order to evacuate and the governor of LA then ordered it.
This data here and these facts are crucial in helping to understand this tragedy--the locals are to blame--period!
This is why FACTS and must be injected into all this screaming and hollering and hysteria.
I think these facts and demographics are extremely important.

"Another question is why did so many whites (over 135,000) evacuate and so many blacks did not evacuate."
I guess so blacks could loot and rob the homes of their oppressors, the whites. In fact, that is exactly what happened, and continues to happen.
Looters make off with merchandise from several downtown businesses in New Orleans, Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, after Hurricane Katrina hit the area.
