Was it in 1978 or 79 that Jackson had all those floods.

i remember driving down to Bay Saint Louis and having to cross the river.

Just as we crossed the bridge and expansion joint moved and the bridge was closed.

Still remember the policeman yelling to get the hell off the bridge.

As I exited the bridge looked downtown and hundreds of building were under water.

Were you there then?

Yes, I was in Jackson for the Easter flood of 1979 -- the water began rising on April 15. My husband (to whom I was not married at the time) got 8 feet of water in his house. I lived in an apartment on the second floor (Canton Road Manor). The water got about 6 feet deep on the first floor and I had to live with my parents for about 6 months until they got everything cleaned up and repaired.
