I am sticking to my tin-foil claim (as alleged by other freepers) - that Blanco was under orders from the DNC to "go easy" on maintaining civil order, to hameper the FEMA efforts, so they could turn the "failure" around on Bush politically. the way the media and the Dems have moved in lock step to politicize this, tells me it was centrally planned. Blanco can't possibly be this stupid.

The DNC will cover her butt, but I don't think they directed her action. Landrieu, OTOH, I would believe that woman would orchestrate mayhem for political gain.

Might be true. CNN is editing out from their earlier stories the fact that Blanco ordered the evacuation ONLY AFTER SHE WAS PRESSURED BY THE PRESIDENT. I wonder what conversations Blanco had with Hillary and her advisors about the advantages a humanitarian disaster would bring to the democrats in future elections.

The exact same thought has crossed my mind. Nobody could be as stupid as Blanco and succeed politically. She did manage to get elected to governor; so she has to have some wits buried within that skull of hers.
