A full gas tank is another top priority in the hurricane prep list, along with water - to last at least three days. You say your folks used up their fuel driving back into the devastated area--and I'm not sure why that is the government's fault they don't have gasoline there now.

There are working atms in Mobile. I have eyewitness accts.

I have family in north Louisiana who say that Hibernai bank (biggest bank in louisiana and some other gulf states) cant process checks. Also, no customer service lines and no website checking service. Also, cell phone service is starting to get bad from the throngs of people moving into new areas and clogging lines.
