Willowbrook was conducting experiments with the developmentally disabled. His expose helped to bring some light to the 'ethically challenged' in the research field and some serious changes.

Later, I will break out my Frank S. CD's. Perhaps they will help calm my nerves.

Yep a little Frank would do very good. Remember it's still Frank's world, and we just get to live in it.

"one old lady who took off her glasses and said "George W. Bush you ain't never going to get my vote for anything!"

Pathetic ignorance. There is no hope for
creatures like her.

They aren't making it about them either. Shep was there from before the storm. He's been through every single emotion, from incredulity to relief to despair. A lot of those reporters just came in. Shep has the right to report however he wants as long as he is truthful.

Geraldo, well he's just being Geraldo.

Talking about a nonprofit foundation being set up and people are still standing on overpasses. When asked about that she said "I wasn't aware they were still there".

Unfreaking Believable!

Aids to Navigation Task Force
U.S. Coast Guard | September 01, 2005
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Members of the Sector Jacksonville Aids to Navigation Team are deploying to be a part of the Coast Guard Seventh District Aids to Navigation Task Force and will be available to the media to discuss their role in the response to Hurricane Katrina Friday at 6:45 a.m.

The Jacksonville Aids to Navigation Team will be sending three people and one boat to be part of the Aids to Navigation Task Force. Coast Guardsmen from Charleston, S.C., St. Petersburg, Fla., Miami, Fort Pierce, Fla., Tybee Island, S.C., and Georgetown, S.C., are all rendezvousing at Sector Jacksonville before heading to the areas affected by the hurricane.

The Aids to Navigation Task Force is comprised of 21 personnel from Aids to Navigation Teams throughout the Seventh Coast Guard District, as well as the crews of Coast Guard cutters Joshua Appleby and Oak, who will help restore aids to navigation in affected waterways. Restoration of these aids is a critical step in the process of opening waterways and seaports to vessel traffic.

The task force is traveling in five recreational vehicles and bringing with them six, trailerable aids-to-navigation boats and as much equipment as they can pack into their vehicles.

The Coast Guard Sector Jacksonville Buoy Depot has loaded trucks with over 229,000 pounds of buoys, chain and sinkers to head to St. Petersburg, Fla., where they will be shipped to the areas affected by Katrina. Restoring the aids to navigation in the disaster area is a critical step in the process of opening waterways and seaports to vessel traffic.

The Coast Guard cutter Joshua Appleby, homeported in St. Petersburg, Fla., and the cutter Oak, homeported in Charleston, S.C., are also part of the task force and are taking on supplies at Coast Guard Sector St. Petersburg with a scheduled departure date of Sept. 1. These cutters will set buoys marking navigable channels for vessel traffic.

That is a very unprofessionally written letter, IMHO. "I want," "I need." How about "We"?? I know, it was written in a time of crisis, but she sounds quite juvenile. "Assistance requirements" sounds a bit on the arrogant side. And the topper is her assumption that only the President's personal involvement will make sure it's done right? What a slam to everybody else working so hard. Tacky.

Mabel, that is a great question, and one I asked earlier today.

a-hem

(snip)

Why is it when a Hurricane hits Florida, the slow search and recovery is the Governor's fault (Jeb Bush, Jeb Bush), except when a Governor is Lawton Chiles and there is a Bush in the White House(Bush 1, Bush 1).

When a hurricane hits Louisiana, search and recovery is not the Governor's fault, unless there is a Bush in the White House? (BUSH'S FAULT, BUSH'S FAULT).

Does this mean that as long as no Bush is either Governor or President, all hurricane blame will cease to exist?

Just curious.......
Just curious.

Awwwwww! I really do love Texas. When we go there, alot, I am struck by the largeness of everything. My daughter has been there a year and a half and she loves it. She calls herself a Texan.

In Louisiana, you have to be here 200 years to really really be a Louisianian.

Good nite all,,

Please seperate your comments from NO response and Miss response. Haley said looters would be dealt with "ruthlessly"..he didn't lose order.
Hard to respond with anything in 48 hours when you're cutting through trees on every hwy. 248 miles inland in Miss I talked to someone today who just cut their way out of their subdivison.

I think what it happening is Sheriff Harry Lee has put his foot down and is not allowing the thugs to come into Jefferson Parish. Gretna is not in Orleans Parish. Harry Lee does not put up with those thugs crap. He point blank said he would just as soon shoot them than to arrest them. What you guys are seeing is Orleans Parish on display, not the rest of the Greater New Orleans area.

If Geraldo is involved it is all about him.....

Your comments are a perfect example of the MSM being unable to think outside of the little box they've made for themselves. White people are risking their own safety to save black people, but there must be racism. The black mayor of New Orleans and the Governor of the State show no competence, but there must be racism. Even Jesse Jackson says there was no racism in the response to the hurricane, but then he changes his mind. These are just examples of the group think of these people.

Another point: for three days, no one complained about the inadequacy of the Federal response. Then the New York Times published an editorial that said the President lacked leadership abilities. And now everyone in the MSM is ranting about the inadequacy of the Federal response.

Mind if I join you my dear? It's no fun drinking alone. I need to blow off a bit of steam and ease the tension here too. (not just about Katrina I have other issues that cropped up today but not appropriate for this thread.)
