Blanco is history next election. Hate to say it but people don't want to see tears flowing out of your eyes during a natural disaster, they want some leadership.

Makes you wonder why the mayor had not planned for this. I don't know how to get the picture, but there is a picture of 100's of school buses in the water that could have been used.

Hey joinedafterattack, Can you look on their Website (I can't go due to an extreme. life threatening CNN allergy) for the fact that President Bush Declared LA and MISS disaster areas BEFORE the storm hit and how much praise the locals gave him for that BOLD MOVE?

The spin may be that President Bush urged an evacuation but failed to provide the means to do so.

Absiolutely right. This President saved MILLIONS of Lives because the Governors couldn't handle it themselves. And they DARE to say HE is responsible? HELL NO!

Robert Latham, director of the Mississippi Emergency Management Agency, said the state was recommending evacuations along the coast "and even several counties inland." Mandatory evacuations could follow later, he said.

Good detective work.
This is a bit staggering: "Even pumping the water out could take as long as four months to get started because the massive pumps that would do the job would be underwater."

Of course, it's President Bush's fault that the evacuation didn't start sooner, because he either stupidly failed to realize that Governor Blanco would be sitting around waiting for him to call and order an evacuation.
Or else he realized but deliberately delayed the call because he wanted as many poor black people to drown as possible. But then he wouldn't have as many poor black people to ship off to Iraq as cannon fodder for his imperialist oil-grabbing attack on that previously free and wonderful country. . . . Gee, what could President Bush have been thinking?
Leftism is just too confusing for my simple right-wing-robot mind. I can't seem to get the hang of it.

Thanks for posting this for those who were not aware of this fact. It was reported last weekend, before the hurricane hit, that our President had made a phone call to the Governor to insist and/or demand that she order a complete evacuation.

At the time she made the announcement, Gov. Blanco probably was happy to "blame" the President for the order, for then if the hurricane dodged New Orleans and people were upset that they had evacuated, then it was "the President's" fault.
As it is, the Governor should come out publicly now and thank the President for exercising the foresight and leadership to bring about the evacuation.
