Yes, and no. Although there were only a couple of stations that kicked it up to $6, there were a lot at $5 - $5.50. It was caused by a panic rumor from some morning DJ's in Atlanta. A lot of it was most definitely gouging, and that's why the Governor stepped in and froze prices on Wednesday afternoon.

And after the gov. put a stop to it, shortages ensued, with many stations running out of gas completely.

If Perdue had kept his hands off it, those stations would still have gas after the panic, and their prices would be back down today.
