All that will do is raise consumption, empty the gas stations tanks and worsen the shortage. We simply need more refining capacity -- It's not price.

Just wait, the shortages and long lines will follow. Write this down.

I'm completely against gas taxes but this will only serve to increase demand on an already strained supply.

It may actually make the gas lines worse.

$3.09 for regular, up to about $3.15 here in Suwanee, GA (suburban ATL).

Numerous stations open.

MANY MANY MANY people in my neighborhood did not drive to work today.

I like the savings. Now time for the Feds to do the same thing.

Stupid Move! It pretends the laws of economics don't exist. The price of gas will be what the public is willing to pay for the supply available. Now that tax money will go into the profit margin of the gas station and the oil companies. Why do people think the laws of economics can be wiped out by the stroke of a pen? Hey why don't we negate gravity by having the governor sign a decree?
