It's now Friday morning and a lot of folks here seem to think that everything should have been solved by now. A million residents of the New Orleans area should all be in some instant city we assembled from some warehouses conveniently located in a nice dry spot.

Nobody's saying that. But people shouldn't be dying of dehydration, and looters shouldn't be running loose in the streets.

It appears that the cavalry has arrived. Things are turning up, and today should be the tipping point forward.

It takes time, sinkspur. I know we all wish it didn't but wishing doesn't change the fact that it just simply does all take time.

And the gang-bangers held off relief efforts for at least 24-48 hours. We'd have been in there lots sooner if not for that component that deserves to be shot on sight.

As you say, today ought to be the tipping point. However, I don't expect that there won't be glitches and snags on down the line. It's the way it always works.
