They didn't need a quorem, they did pass the bill to provide billions of aid to the storm area.
Obviously it was erroneous.
Peach......just one word. This disaster is so enormous, that I think we have to take a step back before we conclude that FEMA has 'failed.'
Obviously, they have not fully succeeded, but thousands have been rescued and fed and sheltered, and bused. The lack of communication even between first responders has been a serious problem, and there has been an inability to get from place to place because of the water.
When a NG rescuer gets his leg shot by someone he's attempting to rescue, the problem becomes far more complex than a typical disaster scenario.
I'm guessing that the President is going to oversee a whole lot of 'fixing' of this obviously inadequate plan. But I'm not sure he could have known it was inadequate until it was tested.
The federal government HAS to be involved in these kinds of things because of the nature of the threats to this country.
A positive word.............hospitals nationwide (including the one my husband works in) have been mobilized to send volunteer medical staff to the afflicted area............something that would never have happened previously.
We need to be thankful that we have this very capable administrator in the Oval Office right now to get things straightened out.
God made no mistake in putting George W. Bush in office for these eight years (a point I know you fully agree with).
