Hi Rightly Biased! Thanks for the ping!
Just a heads up. I heard on the news that the second most requested item after blankets are Bibles. When I went down to Walmart today, they had Bibles for $1.96 (NKJV) and $1.47 (KJV)! What an awesome opportunity to give the Word of God to someone!!
Here in the Atlanta area, we have evacuees coming in. They need all sorts of things: all baby items (diapers, wipes, food, juice, formula, bottles), distilled water, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, tooth brushes, deodorant, brushes, veggies, fruit, pasta, peanut butter, snacks, juice boxes, can openers, etc. Salvation Army is accepting these kinds of donations, while SBC Relief efforts are not yet set up for it. I'm sure they soon enough will be, though . . .
I encourage all FReepers to see if evacuees are coming to your area. I imagine they are taking them everywhere. Follow Texas' example.
As you buy your own groceries, Walmart supplies, etc., buy extra and take it down to a Salvation Army donation center as well as contribute to Southern Baptist Disaster Relief. Everyone can do something. And even if it is a little thing, it will mean everything to someone.
