I wanted to see the kind of comments this would generate. I work for the big B but am not in the machinist union. This is the worst contract they have had offered to them in the 20 years I have been there. The company basically didn't address any of their issues. Here you have a goup of employees saying it is not about the money. they aren't asking for raises or bonuses. They want to improve the retirement plan. So what does the company offer? The lowest increase in the retirement plan in 50 years and raises and bonuses.
Then they can go find other jobs. F them. F unions.
Sounds like it was still an increase, with raises and bonuses to boot. I'm not sure I've heard of any job that didn't have some period of flat or declining wages in a 50 year period.
Fine, since pay isn't an issue, then they should visit their financial planner and max out their IRAs and Health Savings Accounts.

What good is a promise of a better retirement plan if they go out of business? They make enough to save for their own retirement anyway.

I admit Boeing is trying to rip them off.
But, it is hard to have sympathy when the unionists NEVER seem to be satisfied with anything. All you hear from the Wichita station is "and Boeing workers strike yet again..."

Please explain how BAD their retirement plan is now....especially if they weren't even asking for more money. Things can't be all that bad. I'm just glad I sold my BA stock today when I saw this potential strike coming.
They are lucky to have jobs, let alone a retirement plan. Boeing workers have the best benefit package of any comparable aerospace or other large company.
If these pukes don't want to work for better wages and benefits than most of the rest of the country, I'm sure there are a lot of people along the Gulf coast that would gladly take their place.
