A dr. last night talked about some of the critical patients on ventilators dying because both backup generators were under water.

When I see statements like that I am stunned that the planners of hospitals or other buildings or even the government did not foresee that in a city that is below sea level with the water held back by levees did not figure out how to put emergency generator on a level above sea level.

A group of recovery room nurses who were trapped inside the Memorial Medical Center in New Orleans cry and hug one another after being evacuated to Baton Rouge. The nurses said the hospital was without power for days and as many as two-dozen or more critically ill patients who died over the past five days were left behind.

Same thought about that generator. I hope hospitals all over the country are taking lessons and reviewing their policies.
