"In the Homestead Tent City following Hurricane Andrew, there were two families per tent, or all women in one tent, all men in another. That was the official designation, anyway."

Why are we not hearing this as a suggestion on the news? After Andrew, other spaces were considered, but keeping the people as close as possible to home was made possible by this tent city, and it gave all the residents some sense of normalcy, however little it was.

On another note. FEMA head on CNN is saying they just found out about the Convention Center people today. I can only see this as the failure of the NO local officials to accurately see the ENTIRE situation.

For such complete incompetence the penalty of tar, feathers, and a rail to rope them to while carrying them to the edge of the city and dumping them seems appropriate, to me at least.
