Yes, and who was Governor? Oh, yeah a Bush! This might have been mentioned before but I'm playing catch-up. After watching Scarborough and the other shows showing the horrid conditions at the Convention Center and screaming why wasn't the government there, where was Bush.....Michael Brown of FEMA told the accusing Paula Zahn that the government did not even know those people were there until TODAY! He was indignant and upset and repeated that until she would listen to him. This highlights the difficulty with communication, or PERHAPS, the lack of communication from local officials.

On another subject, CNN is saying the Astrodome is full and they are redirecting the buses to Huntsville, Dallas and San Antonio. We here in Dallas are wondering what we will do with these poor souls but are mobilizing private and charitable resources. Has there been any discussion on the thread about using empty military bases.....thought I saw mention of one in Memphis. Our state and schools will be absorbing a lot of people, they have nothing to go home to.

Speaking of Memphis, this is from one of the Memphis news outlets:

"Two thousand hurricane evacuees are on their way to Memphis. It's estimated there are already 10,000 evacuees in the city. Their new home will be the Memphis Coliseum"

Also, I think part of the Army units has been sent to the military base near Memphis. It was a unit that had been based down on the Gulf Coast, but base was damaged in storm. Can't totally verify that yet, however.
