**These people can do something for themselves **

You would THINK that SOMEONE in those groups would step up, take charge, and start to head them out in order...

BUT, you are dealing with a population that has been living in the "g'me,g'me" world for 3-4 generations! They are WAITING for the handouts!

Liberalisms shining moment... isn't it sad?

Plenty of people have led their neighbors to safety.

I don't know what more they could do having arrived at an evacuation point commandeer a bus or some water?

They have been told what to do ever since we brought the first slave to this country... don't you think the collective we did the same thing to the American Indian... a once proud people that we reduced to handouts. I honestly don't blame them for that. We and our Government allowed it to happen each and every one of us bare a certain responsibility for this. Just like the people in Iraq who have to be told what to do because of what Saddam did to them. When you program people -- any people of any color -- not to think for themselves then you need to be prepared to care for them without complaint.

Well, if all is as posted a 20 y/o and a bunch of teenagers did. They took a bus of women and children to Houston. It was reported that they pooled their money to buy gas and diapers along the way. Reading what he said, this wasn't a polished college student either.

Yes it is very sad.

Rather than think how to help themselves, they sit and stew because they are not being helped.

I did notice that many were slugging through that water to get to land. Many would have stayed in their homes and waited to be rescued by helicopter if things had been moving faster. But, out of desperation, they managed to get out themselves. They even devised rafts and buckets for the weak. And those people that commandeered the bus and set out to save themselves, picking up people on the way and even pooling their money to buy diapers and stuff for the children were wonderful. I admire them and their determination.

Note: I in no way am criticizing those people - just noticing the actions at the SD.
