It is a very sad thing,but most people have to have the hell scared out of them to convince them to get out. If Blanco and the Mayor had started getting people scared Friday night this would be a whole different ballgame. There are people that still would not leave,but a lot more would be alive if they have been more Alert and responsible. I heard many people say they thought they could weather this like they did the others,and they named all the ones they survived.

I heard many people say they thought they could weather this like they did the others,and they named all the ones they survived. Two more things would have helped:
- A means of keeping pets safe
- Knowledge that LOOTERS WOULD BE SHOT
Otherwise, for many people, evacuation would mean killing their pets and forfeiting everything they own, for a storm that may or may not hit, and which they would be likely to survive even if it does.
