I suspect you are right. If the President watched Larry King last night and saw him say they only found out about the convention center YESTERDAY afternoon... it was all Larry could do to keep from falling out of his chair... my jaw dropped to the floor... what planet has this guy been on was my thought.

Try local churches, the local archdicese if you want to work through the Catholic church (which is where I am giving) and I'm sure others can recommend other local church groups.

Bush is a delegator and a stand up man.

I share your opinion and I think that after this is finally done some heads will roll and Bush will take the heat for appointing these people because that is the type of man he is.

Can someone more familiar with Condi's speaking pattern tell me if she is having a very difficult time with this briefing. Her voice seems to be on the point of breaking many times. It seems to be a real struggle for her today.

WWL Updates as they come in on Katrina

03:36 PM CDT on Friday, September 2, 2005

Tom Planchet
3:34 P.M. - (AP) The evacuation of Superdome refugees was interrupted briefly when school buses rolled up so some 700 guests and employees from the Hyatt hotel. They were move to the head of the line to be evacuated -- much to the amazement of those who had been crammed in the stinking Superdome for days.

The 700 had been trapped in the Hyatt just like the others, but conditions were considerably cleaner, even without running water, than the unsanitary crush inside the dome.

3:14 P.M. - St. Bernard Parish officials say that FEMA has not called them yet...five days after the storm.

3:07 P.M. - BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) -- U.S. Sen. David Vitter said FEMA's efforts to deal with the hurricane have been completely ineffective, and he called the federal government's response a failure.

"I think FEMA has been completely dysfunctional and is completely overwhelmed, and I don't know why. This situation was utterly predictable," said Vitter, R-Metairie. "It seems like there was no coherent plan, which I don't understand because this precise scenario has been predicted for 20 years," he said.

I know what you mean. I took my brother home from the Titans game last night and my Dad was watching Fox; he was quite depressed. he said (woefully) that this would be Bush's legacy and that he was ashamed he ever voted for him. I could tell he had had a few, so I didn't argue with him.

It was quite disturbiing, and I lost a lot of sleep last night. Damn the media...

As Reagan understood, a conservative President can't control media spin, but he can control the images and their timing.

FEMA is not a military or police operations force. look at the scope of the damage here, coastal destruction in two states, and the need to evacuate an entire flooded city.

Hannity and his callers are echoing the same themes as we are here, very angry about the Dems political poison being introduced into this. Hannity is going to interview John Breaux coming up, he should challenge him on the politics of this.

Chin Up.. :)

You know I've been frustrated, but this morning.. Round about the time I saw President Bush with the Mom and Daughter in Biloxi (I think).. I remembered why I care about our President so much.. and why I have so much faith in him. I truly believe he is honest and does the right thing. He's led by his convictions and it truly does not change. That brought me out of a sense of desperation.. (a little.. laugh)...

Was the "SOS" from the mayor yesterday? I love how Bush was supposed to know about it when the dweeb mayor didn't.

I saw the FEMA head being interviewed yesterday by a reporter in the field in Mississippi. The FEMA head said that he could not expose his workers to danger and that was the reason for the delay. Right after the words were out of his mouth, a Salvation Army canteen pulled up behind the reporter.

Hang in there...these things get so frustrating. I'm about ready to take a nap, I think and try to get the bad taste of dirty politics out of my mouth. I think it's a nastier taste than the flood waters in NO....

But today is only day 4 after the storm. And things are starting to come together.

Deep breath...now another one.

I went outside and took a walk with my dogs. It helped.
