This is also why rebuilding NO is an important issueIt--or something--will be rebuilt in the vicinity as a port. But does it make sense to rebuild it as a city, with a million people in a bowl? One-tenth or one-twentieth that many would suffice to run a port and service the workers.

MSNBC reporter saying Bush will make remarks at the airport "which really doesn't do much good for the people down at the SuperDome."
It's a full frontal assualt by the press.
People in the SuperDome saying that the president is "condemning" them.

Actually, some where in these thousands of posts, I recall that the animals were evacuated to a Houston shelter before the hurricane hit.

Someone needs to reply back that making comments at the Superdome won't do much good either. It isn't like his arrival cures the ills there.

Because for some in our culture Government has displaced God, so if Government isn't represented they feel 'God" has abandoned them. To the rest of us we do not look at Government as our Saviors. We pull ourselves up, lean on Faith, family, friends and good samaritans and when Government enters we welcome it but we'll survive either way.

You Texans - especially those in Houston. Has there been any report on any aid coming from Lakewood Church? They probably have more resources than the city government (he said only half-joking). I know THOSE people can make a huge difference to the Houston refugees, if they put their minds to it.

Everybody knew it.
Major chink in the Cat 3 "armor".
Those two Parishes were under before the eyewall hammered downtown.

I saw Matthews and Howard Finestein and Mitchell. I thought Matthews was going to giggle with glee at how much this was going to hurt Bush. I mean, he was really excited.
Now, Bush was slow on this, but I hope the President turns this around and Matthews has to cry.
But the media definitely has their story...this is Bush's fault.
To: Howlin
Matthews took a shot at the Veep just before they went to commercial.
To: leadpenny
Chris Matthews doing a good job at the MSNBC anchor desk. You know I trust you, but I am finding this hard to wrap my mind around.
To: Howlin
If Fineman and Matthews are moaning about the Federal response then I know that Bush will be fine.
A. Mitchell seemed to be willing to spread the blame to everyone. Coming from MSNBC I will accept it.

it's been reported that the superdome is now empty except for a handful of thugs breaking glass and destroying what is left. I assume everyone is waiting outside to be transported.
To: Howlin
Nobody has criticized him? LOL
Typical libs, they always rewrite history. They have erased the 90's from history, and now have erased the entire Bush presidency to say he has had NO criticism?
They always overplay their hands.
To: Jrabbit
I was chastised earlier for giving locations....It's probably a good thing to be careful about. I just thought it amusing that your post was right after one that gave the location.
To: Soul Seeker
I like it, I like it alot.
I'm just getting back home, has anyone found Mayor Nagin?
To: Howlin
It is what I expected. The REAL reason is that the democrats think their support of the President after 9/11 was a tactical error, allowing him a long stretch of time where he got media coverage and all was positive.
So, in essence, they have decided to use the victims of Hurrican Katrina as a soapbox. They are despicabe, and I am not going to put up with it.
And I wish someone would speak up for the President besides those of us on the internet. How about some of the Senators speaking up?
I am so mad that I am spitting! Howard Fineman is a complete @&##*&@#!!!

Is he running down the road yelling "Ashley, Ashley, you're home!!"
He would be if he had thought of it first, cajungirl. I think he just announced that the 4th ID had arrived. Ah, Geraldo...larger than life....
IIRC, you were called into work and you are involved in medical field? If I recalled correctly, what's going on in your general location? I'm hearing the talking, bobbing heads saying the Astrodome is turning people away like the cold, heartless "bastids" they must be. Actually, I believe the Fire Marshall allowed the limit and then Red Cross and whoever else is in coordination with the moving of buses just started moving people to Austin, San Antonio, Dallas, Huntsville and probably other Texas cities as well. Ill and infirm are being absorbed into Texas Medical Center and outlaying Houston hospitals. I guess the talking heads want the Fire Marshall to pack the Astrodome and have a repeat of the Superdome.
"Think, talking heads, think. You don't send traumatized, sick, starving people from the horror of the Superdome and put them into a situation that is just as bad by overpacking them in the Astrodome. You try to make the situation better."
Does anyone in the news feel the need to follow up their statements that the Astrodome is turning people away with the reality that the Astrodome has reached capacity and the people are being sent to other facilities?! No one is being dumped into the streets of Houston to wonder wildly...they are being taken in somewhere where they can be fed, clothed and taken care of...a friend of mine who works in Houston said his company, many Houston companies and the local "conservative" radios station and the TV stations, the churches, and on and on and on have raised millions of dollars and are collecting food, clothes, toys, diapers, hygiene products for orderly drop offs at select locations around town.
Gosh, cajungirl...it is not awesome when you know what the reality is and then watch what the "news" people are throwing out there! What happened to journalistic integrity?! Today's "journalists" have made parodies of themselves, IMHO.
Maybe once hair gel and mousse, etc. entered the equation, straight reporting dropped down to a lower priority. Well, at least they have provided me with a new tagline.
